David Pentland, Practice Principal

DAVID PENTLAND - Acupuncturist (REGISTERED)

Practice Principal

I have been practising Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine since 1986. I spent my early years travelling before spending time with Mother Teresa in the house of the dying. From this point, I knew mys calling was to help people in the health industry. My interest is mainly in musculo skeletal problems with the "no prolonged treatment without results" motto.  We have built a great team of practitioners in a well established clinic with a good rapport with General Practitioners and Specialists on the Sunshine Coast.  I pride myself on team work and making sure the patient comes first and gets the best possible treatment and results.

Kristan Turner, Associate
KRISTAN TURNER - Remedial Massage/Bowen Therapist
(Associate)

I have been working in this practice since 1998 and completed my Remedial Massage qualification in 2003.  In 2015, I completed my training as a Bowen Therapist.  I use these modialities to treat and relieve pain and inflammation within the body.  I look at the whole person and use touch and intuition to guide my treatment.

I am qualified in Australian Bush Flower Essenses which work on the emotions and also in Schuessler Tissue Salts to bring the body into balance where mineral deficiencies may be present.  I find these to be a great addition to my treatment to enhance the best possible results.

Dr Meisha Krogh, Associate

DR MEISHA KROGH - Osteopath

(Associate)

Since graduating from my osteopathic studies at RMIT in Melbourne in 2006, I have been working in the Sunshine Coast region.  First in Nambour and then the last seven or so years here in Caloundra.  I have enjoyed serving this community over this time,  from working with unsettled babies and growing kids right through to the elderly.

As an osteopath, I see my job primarily as a problem solver and my hands are the tools by which I diagnose and help to resolve problem areas in the body.  This may involve massage, specific stretching, joint manipulation or gentle unwinding of tissues.  I feel very grateful for the opportunities I have had to assist people with chronic pain issues such as osteoarthritis. Osteopathic treatment is based on the principle of the body's own healing mechanisms and my treatment is focused on enhancing these functions by recognising the connections within the person's structure and with their movement and posture.  The aim is to create space and balance in the tissues to help them function.  As well as hands on treatment, I may also prescribe specific exercises or give general lifestyle advice.

I have a young family myself and I love to treat babies, kids and pregnant mums.  Reflecting these interests, I have also persued extra studies in the areas of paediatric and obstetric treatment, and cranial osteopathy including cranio-dental development.

I'm a classically trained acupuncturist who has studied both Japanese acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I hold degress of B.H.Sc (Acupuncture) and post graduate studies in Toyohari (East Asian Needle Therapy), which is a modern form of Japanese meridian therapy based on ancient                                                                         classical Chinese Medicine.

The style of acupuncture I practice is gentle and painless and my intention is to assist clients on their path to health and wellbeing, using a holistic approach to support the bodies innate healing abilities - physically, mentally and emotionally.

I use a variety of techniques including:  traditional and modern needles; non-insertive Japanese tools made of copper, silver and gold; moxibustion; cupping; gua sha; tui na; electro-acupuncture; polarity therapy and herbal medicine.

I spent the last half of 2016 living in Mumbai (Bombay) where part of my weekly routine was volunteering at the Barefoot Acupuncture clinic in Dharavi, which is India's largest slum.  In 2009, I had the opportunity to do a semester at Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University, where I completed internships in three of China's public hospitals.  After that time I attended summer school in Tokyo, furthering my skills in Toyohari.

I completed by Bachelor of Clinical Science in 2016 (majoring in human structure and function) and went on to attain Master of Osteopathic Medicine at Southern Cross University in New South Wales.

My interest in people, the human body and all things healthcare led me to study osteopathy.  I have a caring nature and want to provide the best care to my patients through osteopathic                                                                                      medicine.

I come from a sporting background having played tennis at a national level and competed  throughout Australia and overseas, as well as having been a keen surfer, golfer and runner.

I enjoy treating people of all ages, from all walks of life, presenting with a wide variety of injuries and conditions.  I can help with all areas of musculoskeletal pain by utilising both direct and indirect technuques including soft tissue massage and myofascial release, joint manipulation, stretching, joint mobilisation, functional positional release as well as trigger point release.

Where appropriate, I can also offer advice on posture, ergonomics and stretching programs.
